Preacher AMC Series Release Date 2016? AMC Orders New Pilot for Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg's 'Preacher' Drama

For about a year now, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have been working on 'Preacher' for a TV adaptation, and after a long wait, AMC has finally given the green-light for the show's pilot.

'Preacher', the 1990s cult comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon is on its way to TV Screens as AMC Studios and Sony TV, already picked Rogen and Goldberg to pilot the show.

The duo, who were the writers and directors of 'This is the End', will be working alongside 'Breaking Bad' writer and producer Sam Catlin to bring the comic book to the small screen. Catlin will write the script for the show and will take on the role as its executive producer.

In a joint statement, Rogen and Goldberg said that 'Preacher' has been their favorite comic book since it was released.

"Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it's an incredible honor to be working on this. We promise we won't make too many [explicit] jokes and ruin it," they said.

In addition, Catlin expressed his gratitude to AMC for "completely losing their minds and letting us do this," adding that he is excited to "bring Garth Ennis' bloody, amazing and bloody amazing universe to TV."

The story is about Jesse Custer, a small town preacher from Texas who merged with a creature that escaped from heaven, giving him powers to make anyone do whatever he says.

Along with an Irish vampire Cassidy and his ex-girlfriend Tulip, the three of them go on a mission to find God.

During AMC's announcement of the pilot, Joel Stillerman, AMC's executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content said 'Preacher' was a project where "all the elements lined up beautifully."

The pilot will be shot in 2015 and there's a chance that the series will be broadcast sometime in 2016.
