'Power Rangers' Reboot News Update, Rumors: Fan's Theory Reveals Rita Repulsa Is The Green Ranger?

Along with the recent revelation of the latest superhero costumes in Dean Israelite's upcoming film "Power Rangers," a fan theory suggests that the Green Ranger is no one else, but Rita Repulsa.

According to Reddit users, Repulsa was the original Green Ranger, in a time before she was trapped in the time-warp. It is said that she became dis-enfranchised and rebelled against Zordon, as she had to see her friends fight and become sacrifice for Zordon's objectives. Due to a conflict between Repulsa and Zordon, the latter creates a new Power Ranger team to fight the former.

Another theory is that Repulsa was the original Green Ranger, but disobeyed the Power Ranger code, which says that they should not just morph, call in the robots, and step in when there are villains. It is a possibility that Repulsa violated this sacred code, which led to the loss of her Power Ranger abilities.

If the aforementioned theories are at par with Israelite's storyline, it is assumed that "Power Rangers" fans are set to see some flashbacks featuring Repulsa's origin story.

Previously, Lionsgate unveiled the first look at the titular heroes sporting their costumes. While the suits maintained the five colors, fans of the 1990s "Power Ranges" television series know that the costume of the 2017 iteration of the superhero series is very different from the original design. The 1990s Power Rangers wore colored spandex suits while the 2017 suits are assumed to be metallic in appearance.

Israelite told Entertainment Weekly that the show had been about kids coming of age and metamorphosis, adding that the suits had been needed like they had been catalyzed by the kids, their energy, and their spirit.

"Power Rangers" stars Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G., and Elizabeth Banks, among others.

Israelite's "Power Rangers" is set to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 24, 2017.
