'Power Rangers' Reboot News: Original Concept For Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa Leaked
Artist Matt Frank recently posted on Facebook a sketch of his original concept of the upcoming 2017 "Power Rangers" reboot film's main villain, Rita Repulsa.
Rita Repulsa was the first primary antagonist in the "Might Morphin' Power Rangers" TV series. In the upcoming movie reboot, she is set to have her face off against the new batch of Power Rangers again.
Recently, artist Matt Frank revealed through his Facebook account how Max Landia approached him in 2013 about creating a concept art for the "Power Rangers" project, which was still being conceptualized at that time. Frank revealed that since he was busy back then, he only came up with a sketch he called "Xeno-Rita," which Rita Repulsa would look like if she was blended with the popular "Alien" character Xenomorph.

The villain in the upcoming film could have looked like the one Frank had sketched, but the film ended up going in a different direction, primarily because the "Power Rangers" reboot's target is the young adult demographic and showing something as creepy as Frank's sketch might be too freaky for this type of audience.
Meanwhile, the trailer for the upcoming film reveals that Rita Repulsa, to be portrayed by Elizabeth Banks, will have the same goal as her TV predecessor. In the "Power Rangers" reboot, she will take over the Earth with her alien followers. Unlike her TV predecessor, however, it looks like Elizabeth Banks' version is always ready to get her hands dirty. In the trailer, she is shown attacking one of the Rangers in their bedroom while he is still un-morphed.
"Power Rangers" reboot is scheduled to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
