'Power Rangers' News & Update: Film Leaks Image of Elizabeth Banks As Rita Repulsa

"Power Rangers" recently released an image from the movie, giving viewers a fresh look at "Hunger Games" star Elizabeth Banks, who is set to portray Rita Repulsa.

The photo was posted on the official Instagram page of "Power Rangers," showing the villain standing behind a ruptured glass wall. However, the circumstances behind the image remain unknown.

In her recent interview with IGN, the actress revealed that the film's take on the villain is definitely "a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original." She also described her character as unpredictable, saying that her re-imagined backstory links her to the new Rangers.

"Power Rangers" follows the story of five ordinary high school students who transform into something extraordinary after learning that their town, Angel Grove, as well as the world, is on the brink of being annihilated by aliens. The kids discover that they are the only ones chosen by destiny to save the planet from the alien threat.

The film is directed by Dean Israelite of "Project Almanac" and written by "Kong: Skull Island" and "Real Steel" writer John Gatins. Joining him are "Dracula Untold" writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, "X-Men: First Class" writer Zack Stentz and "Chronicle" writer Max Landis.
