'Poppets' iOS Game Created by Camera+ Co-Founder Lisa Bettany, Developer's First Solo Project

Lissa Bettany, one of the founders of the Camera+ app, recently launched the mobile game 'Poppets' as her first individual project. The game involves a stuffed animal that holds on to three balloons which carries the character into different stages. The player may change the animal's direction and prevent the balloons from popping by tilting the mobile device.

When the balloons are gone, the player has to earn points or purchase them with a credit card to gain a new set. The game setting shows chirping birds, twinkling lights and roaming butterflies.

As challenges, the players will encounter rain, bees and live branches. 'Poppets' is similar to old Disney animations, combined with Winnie the Pooh's 'Hundred Acre Wood', according to Digital Trends.

Bettany is familiar with digital games as she was the voiced Agent Sophia in the iOS game 'The Heist', which led her to create a game of her own.

The creator discovered plush toys while surfing on Etsy, a website selling handmade and vintage supplies. The toys inspired her to make the characters Ollie, Pip, Poe, Kit and Wink.

Bettany developed the game with children in mind.

"Gaming is not just for hard-core male gamers anymore," she said, "There's a whole new audience of people who have traditionally not played games, namely women and children."

Meanwhile, Bettany's first collaboration project, Camera+, was free in the U.S. Apple Store up until Nov. 16. It now costs $2.99 on the iOS app store. The app allows the user to control and edit the owner's pictures, similar to how one edits photos on a desktop computer.

Bettany has been an inspiration to her followers, and on that note the app developer is also a tech blogger and TV show host.
