Pope Francis Embraces Man with Rare Skin Disease on Wednesday [PHOTOS] Why It Is So Important

Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of people gathered around in St. Peters Square to hear Pope Francis speak when more attention was gathered from a man that desperately wanted to meet the Pope himself. After the ceremony, a man that was suffering from a rare disease was hugged, kissed, and prayed for by Pope Francis himself. The man who's name still remains unknown was suffering  from a rare disease called neurofibromatosis, a painful and disfiguring skin condition. Photos of the Pope hugging the man went viral as it was very evident that the man had a abundance of small tumors all over his face, as Pope Francis embraced him. The photos touched many people's hearts and are even reflecting it back on Pope's story of St. Francis and the leper.

As story has it, St. Francis was riding his horse one day outside a town called Assisi, when he came across a man that was suffering from leprosy, a skin disease that was most common in the 13th century. From having horror of Leprosy as a child, Francis believed that God was telling him to do something so he jumped off his horse and gave the leper a coin, than kissed him. Yet, when he had gotten back on the horse and turned to waive goodbye, the man was gone. St. Francis firmly believes that the man with leprosy was God. From then, Pope Francis of Assisi has made it a point to serve those who were poorer and marginalized. Recognizing this, Christians have reportedly been telling the events  of Wednesday as if it was the Bible story of Jesus healing the lepers, in turn saying that the pictures are a image of God. What are your opinions on the Pope and the man with the skin disease, Do you think it is a image of God? How do these pictures effect you as a Christian?
