'Pokken Tournament for Wii U' Review Roundup: Positive Reviews Received, But Moves 'Too Basic?'
The "Pokken Tournament" received only positive reviews across the board as most of those who initially played the game noted why the developers have thought up of the concept before.
Below is the review roundup for the "Pokken Tournament."
"It's an absurd thought that it has taken this long for a Pokémon fighting game to grace our consoles," said God is a Geek.
"This is not to say the game is not without errors, but for the most part it delivers a wonderfully entertaining experience," the review on the "Pokken Tournament" added.
The review from Nintendo Insider also gave positive marks for "Pokken Tournament" although it said that an update is necessary especially when there are only 16 Pokemon characters to play.
"As you battle through the single player mode, repetition soon sets in as you face the same opponents over and over," its said.
CG Mag said in its review that there's still some room for improvement in future updates for the "Pokken Tournament."
"What Pokken Tournament really lacks is overall polish. While the controls are tight, animations are solid, and sound design is great, it just feels like something is lacking," the article said. "It was a shame to see grainy shadows, plastic-looking Pokemon, and lacklustre effects when the Wii U is capable of smoother textures and better designs."
The review of Digital Spy also urged for an update since the "Pokken Tournament" is in danger of being "too basic."
The article said, "Perhaps it would be more challenging if you actually had to manually input special move commands like you do in Street Fighter, but even the game's most powerful moves require nothing more than a squeeze of the trigger buttons."
