'Pokken Tournament' Trailer, Latest News: Croagunk Set To Join The Battle
The Pokemon Company has added another character to its hit video game "Pokken Tournament," Croagunk.
Bandai Namco announced that Croagunk is set to join "Pokken Tournament's" arcade version on Nov. 10, Gematsu has learned. As per the publication, Sinnoh's fighting-poison type amphibian follows the newly added Pokemon like the bug-steel stype Scizor and the legendary dark-type Pokemon Darkrai.
In the trailer, Croagunk enters the scene smiling, making an appeal to players. With the Japanese name Gureggru, Sinnoh's frog is seen battling fan favorite Pikachu in the arena. It also demonstrates its huge power against one of the all-time favorite Pokemon Charizard, Hoenn's fire-fighting starter Blaziken, and Sinnoh's dark-ice Pokemon Weavile.
In terms of abilities, Croagunk can hit its targets in air and move in a sliding fashion on the ground for another hit. It can also boost its power and hurl its foe to the air, before hitting it with its special move.
Overall, the trailer exemplifies that size does not matter in "Pokken Tournament."
In line with the game, players speculate that the game will see Empoleon as the next playable character. Native to Sinnoh, Empoleon is the final evolution of the water-type penguin starter Piplup, as per Game N Guide. The Pokemon is inspired from an Emperor penguin and France's Napoleon Bonaparte. Just like Croagunk, which only appeared as a support character in the game, Empoleon could also be one of the rising stars in the game.
For the time being, players also assume that Bandai Namco is set to unveil the Pokemon characters as a downloadable content. However, the studio is yet to confirm the details.
Published by The Pokemon Company, "Pokken Tournament" was initially released for Wii U and arcade in 2015.
