Pokemon X and Y Anime Release Date: Pokemon the Series XY Coming to the US on Cartoon Network Jan. 18 (VIDEO)
Pokemon X and Y is getting its own anime series in English on the Cartoon Network January 18, making the jump from its release in Japan in October.
"Pokemon the Series XY" will be the fifth rendition of the popular anime cartoon since its debut in the late 90s, reports Bulbapedia. The show was first demoed back on October 19 2013 as a sneak peek when the first two episodes were previewed.
The series protagonist, Ash Ketchum, will be returning with his trusty side kick Pikachu to explore the Kalos region of his world. The trio of Team Rocket bad guys, Jessie, James, and Meowth will be returning as well.
"It's time for Ash and Pikachu to set off on their adventures in the Kalos region! Along the way, they're joined by some new friends"”a genius inventor named Clemont, his little sister Bonnie, and Serena, a Trainer on her first journey. In between Gym battles, Ash and friends will be exploring this unique region, meeting all kinds of new Pokémon, and looking into a fascinating new Pokémon mystery! There is another anime in the franchise that has gained much praise from fans of the game, Pokemon Origins, which is currently only in Japan. It debuted on October 2, and closely follows the story of the original games for Gameboy.
