'Pokémon Sun & Moon' News: Nintendo Unveils Four New Pocket Monsters

As the release of Nintendo's "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" gets nearer, the studio has unveiled four new Pokémon and two of them are sand-based.

Sandygast is one of the newest Pokémon from Alola. It is based on a pile of beach sand with a small shovel planted in its head. Its type is ghost and ground, which means it is weak against dark, ghost, water, grass, and ice, but immune to normal, fighting, and lightning.

Sandygast's ability is Water Compaction, which boosts its defense stat by two stages when it is hit by a water type move. Its evolution is Palossand, which based on a sandcastle.

Crabrawler is another Pokémon that players are set to see in Alola. It is a fighting type counterpart of water types Krabby and Kingler from the first generation games. Its abilities are Hyper Cutter, which prevents the attack stat from being dropped, and iron Fist, which increases the base power of punching moves by 20 percent.

Previously, Nintendo released the normal fighting Pokémon in the first batch of Alolan Pokémon reveal. The studio recently unveiled that it has a pre-evolution named Stufful. One of the small bear's abilities are Fluffy, which leads to half damage taken from moves that make contact; however, fire type moves get double damage. Stufful's other ability is Klutz, which prevents the effects of the held item of the Pokémon with the ability in battles.

Nintendo also released another Pokémon at Gamescom 2016, Turtorator. Based on a turtle, Turtorator is fire and dragon type, which means it is weak against rock, ground, and dragon type moves. Water and ice-type moves do neutral damage due to the Pokémon's typing.

"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" are set to be released for the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
