'Pokémon GO' Update: Trainers Can Learn Pokemon Strength, Size With New ‘Appraise' Feature

Along with talks about losing some of its users, "Pokemon GO" remains poised with its new Appraise feature.

Niantic recently released an update on Android and iOS and it highlights the Team Leaders' advice to players about their Pokemon. Fans can join either Team Valor, Team Mystic, and Team Instinct in the game and their leaders are Candela, Blanche, and Spark, respectively. The Appraise feature lets players check with the team leaders the stats of their Pokemon.

As per Pokemon GO DB, the Appraise feature can be accessed by heading to the Main Menu. Then, the player selects Pokemon and chooses one Pokemon. After selecting the Pokemon, the player selects the menu at the bottom right of the screen, which sees Favorite, Appraise, and Transfer. Tapping Appraise will see the Team Leader's analysis to the Pokemon.

Pokemon are analyzed based on overall stats, individual stats, and size. A case in point is Candela's line on overall stats. The Pokemon is considered strong when she says, "Overall, your (Pokemon Name) simply amazes me. It can accomplish anything!"

The Pokemon has high individual stats when Blanche says, "Its stats exceed my calculations. It's incredible."

In terms of size, the Pokemon is very small when Spark says, "Wh-whoa. That's the tiniest (Pokemon Name) I've ever seen."

The update seems to be Niantic's strategy to retain its large number of players, since the number reportedly has started to decline recently. According to Bloomberg's report, the "Pokemon GO" daily active users declined from about 45 million users on July 21 to around 30 million users on Aug. 16.

According to Polygon, the decline has an effect on people's interest for reality games like "Pokemon GO." However, the title appears to remain strong, despite the reduction in number of players.

The app is the number one free game in Google Play Store and the second highest ranking free game in Apple's App Store. Also, the game's popularity may reignite when it reaches other territories and when the rumored Pokemon GO Plus is released.

Meanwhile, Pokemon fans are eagerly awaiting to choose between Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio and between Solgaleo and Lunala in "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon," respectively, when the double game comes out on Nov. 18.
