PlayStation VR Release Date, Price and Specs: Anticipated Device To Arrive In October?; Features 120Hz Refresh Rate

The release date for the Playstation VR is rumored to be in October, which is probably a good thing considering the steep price of the device.

According to Stuff has confirmed the price of the Playstation VR to be at $399, which is quite expensive still significantly cheaper compared to the Oculus Rift at $600 and the HTC Vive which is at ridiculous $800. Also the specs of the device seem like it's a good deal.

Of course, gamers need to buy first a PS4 before they can even begin to hook in the device.

The specs for the Playstation VR include 5.7-inch display featuring a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and RGB subpixels to reduce pixilated images. The bigger display, compared to its predecessor of five inches, will reportedly provide users with a "100-degree field of vision."

More specs for the Playstation VR also feature the refresh rate of 120Hz from the typical 60Hz employed by both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

"Early games won't natively run at 120 FPS - instead the PlayStation 4's reprojection software will add an extra 'tween' every frame to make it feel like they are, but the overall experience should be silky-smooth," Wareable noted.

PC Advisor also confirmed that the Playstation VR will get a UK release date of October.

"An October 2016 release puts the PlayStation VR six months behind the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive Pre, arguably Sony's biggest VR competitors," it said.

Along with the release date confirmation, the price for Playstation VR in the UK is £349, which when converted into dollars would actually be cheaper than the US version.
