PlayStation VR Price, Specs, Release Date: New Gadget Exceeds Hype?

The release date for the PlayStation VR was announced to be on Oct. 13, but the reviews from those who got to try the gadget have been positive so far.

As everyone knows, the PlayStation VR is a unique gadget in itself since news articles pointed out that it connects to the PlayStation 4, unlike the other headsets which are linked either a very powerful PC or the smart phone.

That's a smart move from Sony since there are about 40 million PlayStation 4 sold globally, which means a ready market if there ever was one.

"No, the PSVR isn't as high-res or graphically superpowered as the top-end Oculus Rift and HTC Vive," CNET said. "But we're not sure you'll notice."

What people will notice, however, is that the price for the PlayStation VR is just a dollar under $400, compared to the Oculus Rift which will reportedly retail for $599 or the HTV Vive which will be sold for $799.

"Games run smoothly and look crisp on the headset's clear, bright display," the news article on the PlayStation VR added. "You can see pixels, yes, and sometimes games or videos can look blurry, but for many games it just works."

However, PC Advisor noted that while the PlayStation VR will cost around $399, Sony CEO didn't exactly share a bit of news info: the price don't include a PlayStation Camera, which is a vital piece of the total specs before users can enjoy the headset.

The PlayStation camera costs about $54 on Amazon, which means that the total price for the PlayStation VR will be about $455, and that's just about $150 off the Oculus Rift. Nevertheless, all these confusion will be addressed once the new gadget hits the stores and maintream news outlets would be able to give the ample verdict.
