PlayStation VR Release Date News: Price Rumors Suggest Device Cost To Be Around $300, Gets Q2 Release?

Along with expectations of a competitive price, the extensive compatibility of the PlayStation VR (Virtual Reality) has boosted the device to become a players' top choice when it hits the market in the second quarter of 2016.

The PlayStation VR's price is thought of as competitive, Dual Shockers reports. In a survey in the latest issue of "Weekly Famitsu," it was revealed that fans assumed that the forthcoming device will be released with price range between $264 and $353, which was reportedly a lower range when compared to other top VR headsets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

In the survey, 22 percent thought that the PlayStation VR should be priced within $176 to $264 while 17 percent said that the tech should be priced between $88 and $176. Among the respondents, eleven percent wanted that the PlayStation VR will be set at a price between $441 and $529 while only six percent thought that it will be priced at $353 to $441.

It is notable that 66 percent of respondents do not see virtual reality as becoming mainstream in the gaming industry while 33 percent view it as another technical revolution.

According to Digital Trends, the PlayStation VR is compatible with other devices in several ways.

According to the publication, however, no other VR headset could immerse users like the HTC Vive, as the Vive Pre's camera is capable of linking its virtual holodeck space to real people and objects in a room, which creates a huge step forward.

The said feature also diminishes the "alienation" gamers would feel when sporting the virtual reality headset; hence, the VR would let them see transformation of real world objects and people, instead of ignoring them. However, which device ends up consumers' favorite remains to be seen.

The PlayStation VR is set to be launched later in 2016.
