Playstation TV Show 'Powers' Release Date News: Gaming Company Set to Broadcast New Series on March 10

The highly anticipated Playstation TV show, "Powers," is scheduled to to be released on March 10th. On that note, writer Brian Michael Bendis confirmed the date on the Playstation Blog earlier this week.

The show will star Sharlto Copley from "District 9", and will also be Playstation's first scripted television show. This is partly why it is so anticipated, no one knows what to expect from the major gaming company.

The "Power" series will be 10 episodes long and will debut on the Playstation Network.

The first three episodes will appear on March 10th at once, and going forward, new episodes will premiere every Tuesday.

"The first episode in the Powers series, which sees Copley and co-star Susan Heyward (The Following) charged with protecting humans and investigating cases involving super-human beings known as "powers," will be free for everyone. Meanwhile, the full season will be available free for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony did not announce a price for the full season for non-Plus users," writes Gamespot.

The show is an adaptation from Bendis' original comic book.

"Beginning in 2000, the book sparked talk of a live action adaptation almost immediately; it was optioned as a possible movie by Sony in 2001 and a TV pilot was previously made for FX in 2011 starring Jason Patric and Lucy Punch," writes CNET.

Series based off online streaming services have enjoyed a lot of success. Netflix may be responsible for starting this trend as shows such as "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" have become widely popular.

Microsoft was once believed to follow in the trend but have recently cut the rope on the whole project, however they are still confident in their "Halo: Nightfall" series being released.

On that note, Playstation has not confirmed what other original content will follow "Powers", or if any will.
