Islanders (29-13-1) are attempting to extend their winning streak to four games when they host their Metropolitan division rival Penguins on Friday night.

Previously, New York crushed their longtime crosstown division nemesis the New York Rangers by a final score of 3-0, where Islanders' players Nikolay Kulemin, Anders Lee, and Frans Nielsen each scored a goal in the aforementioned victory on Tuesday night.

"We have a lot of hockey left. This was a big game with a lot of media attention, and I thought we played well," said Islanders coach Jack Capuano to reporters.

"For us, it's about getting the two points. To play a team that is playing so well, and for them to come off the trip they came off, it gives the guys confidence that they can play against good hockey teams."

Now, the Penguins (26-10-6) are looking to prolong their winning streak to three games when they face the Islanders at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Pittsburgh previously tamed the Minnesota Wild by the final score 7-2, where Penguins left winger David Perron had two goals and an assist which ignited his team to the victory on January 13.

"As soon as I stepped in here, I could feel the (confidence) in this group," said Perron to reporters.

"We started feeding off of that pretty quick, and it was a good night for everyone."
