‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Plot Details: Jack Sparrow Hunts for the Trident of Poseidon?

If the latest reports regarding 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' are any indication, it is apparent that the makers are trying to replicate the magic of the first film of the Disney franchise. The first film in the series, 'Curse of the Black Pearl' smashed all box office records, besides kicking off one of the most favorite blustering cinematic journeys.

IB Times reports that the last film in the series, 'Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' is, however, considered to be the weakest of the all the movies in the franchise release so far and it also failed to impress fans. According to actress Kaya Scodelario, perhaps, this is why the makers are currently endeavoring to recapture lost glory by giving the upcoming movie a "feel of the first film."

Talking to Digital Spy, Scodelario said, "[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again," adding, "They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."

The actress also shared some details about her character, Carina Smyth, in the film. She revealed, "[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic," adding, "She's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time."

Scodelario further teased a few minor plot details. "So she's on her own journey - looking for the trident of Poseidon - and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he always does. And it's fun!," she said.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is slated to release on July 7, 2017.
