'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' New Cast News: Female Lead Officially Cast - Kaya Scodelario

'Pirates of the Caribbean' producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently took to his Twitter handle to announce that the 'Skins' star Kaya Scodelario has been signed on to portray the female lead character in the fifth installment of the movie series.

Bruckheimer tweeted, "Pleased to announce that we cast Kaya Scodelario for the 5th 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. Talented young actor from 'Skins' & 'The Maze Runner'."

Daily Mail says that the 22-year-old British actress Scodelario is well-known for her creditable performances in 'Skins' as well as the upcoming movie 'The Maze Runner'. Scodelario will be portraying the same character that actress Keira Knightley played in the previous installment of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series.

Coming Soon reports that Johnny Depp will be returning to play the character of Captain Jack Sparrow. Similarly, Geoffery Rush will reprise his role as Captain Barbossa. The other key members of the cast include Javier Bardem, who will portray Captain Brand, the main villain of the film, while Brenton Thwaites will play the role of the British soldier Henry. Scodelario will play Henry's love interest.

Meanwhile, it is still not sure whether or not Orlando Bloom, who portrayed the character of Will Turner in the first three installments of the series, will return to 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'. The Daily Mail has, however, claimed that earlier Bloom had shown interest to reprise his role in the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie.

The Daily Mail quoted Bloom as saying, "I'm not entirely sure that [I'll be back] just yet, but there are talks."

The actor added, "Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son. I'm of course Davey Jones now, so I'm down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I'm rumbling round the bottom of the ocean because I won't look anything like me."

According to Variety, pre-production of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' is already underway and the filming is being done in Australia.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' premieres in theaters on July 7, 2017.
