'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' Cast News, Release Date: Johnny Depp Hurt while Filming 'Dead Men Tell No Tales'
Actor Johnny Depp sustained an injury while filming 'Dead Men Tell No Tales,' the fifth installment of Walt Disney Pictures' franchise 'Pirates of the Caribbean', during the weekend and now, the actor is set to fly back to the United States.
Latin Post says that while the gravity of the injury sustained by Depp or how he got hurt is not clear, sources claimed that he is likely to return to the United States to undergo surgery. According to the magazine, the 51-year-old actor was not working when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, confirming the incident to "The Wrap" of USA Today, a Walt Disney Pictures spokesperson said that the incident notwithstanding, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' will release on schedule - July 7, 2017. According to the spokesperson, the incident will have a minimal effect on the production of the movie owing to the absence of Depp, as scenes will be now shot around his character, Capt. Jack Sparrow, over the next few weeks.
In 'Dead Men Tell No Tales," the latest installment of the franchise, the terrifying Capt. Salazar, an old adversary of Sparrow, escapes from the "Devil's Triangle" and conspires to eliminate all the pirates at sea. According to Variety, the only hope of the main protagonist is the famous "Trident of Poseidon," a potent artifact that gives its possessor absolute maritime control.
Javier Bardem, the first Spanish actor to win an Academy Award, will be portraying the role of Salazar. In addition, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' will also feature Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites and Golshifteh Farahani. Meanwhile, USA Today reported that Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally and Stephen Graham, will be returning to reprise their 'Pirates' characters Barbossa, Joshamee Gibbs, and Scrum, respectively.
According to Variety, Jeff Nathanson, known for his fast-paced 'Catch Me If You Can,' has written 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' and it is being produced by Hollywood celebrity Jerry Bruckheimer. The movie is being directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, who were also a part of the team that made 'Kon-Tiki,' a historical drama about the 1947 expedition of Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl.
Production of 'Dead Men Tell No Tales' started at Brisbane's Village Roadshow Studios in February and it will be shot entirely within the northeastern Australian state of Queensland.
