'Pinocchio' New Movie News: Disney Developing Live Action Adaptation of Classic Film
If over the past few weeks you've been asking yourself if Disney is going to totally cash in on live action adaptations of all their classic films, you'd be correct in assuming so.
Recent news has revealed that the studio is thinking about a 'Pinocchio'-inspired live action film. However details on the film have not yet been disclosed, but Peter Hedges is set to write the script.
"Disney has been combing through its coffers of late, looking for live-action versions of popular fairy tales and has several on the horizon, including The Jungle Book, being directed by Iron Man and Iron Man 2 helmer Jon Favreau; Beauty And The Beast, which will star Emma Watson, Luke Evans and Josh Gad; and Dumbo, to be directed by Tim Burton; and Mulan. There has also been buzz about a live-action Winnie the Pooh-inspired tale in development," writes Deadline.
With the recent success of their movie, 'Cinderella,' just recently crossing $400 million worldwide, this trend may be around for quite a while.
The classic story of the wooden puppet in pursuit of becoming a real boy has been adapted many times since its initial release in 1940, in both live action and animation.
As it stands, no release date on the project has been revealed.
