Philadelphia Eagles NFL 2015 News: Franchise Trades QB Nick Foles for Sam Bradford
Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly continued his busy offseason, this time by swapping quarterbacks with the St. Louis Rams, trading Nick Foles for Sam Bradford, in a deal first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
According the details of the trade provided by Shutdown Corner, the Rams get Foles, along with the Eagles' fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft, as well as a second-round pick in 2016; Philadelphia gets Bradford along with the Rams' fifth-round pick in 2015.
There are a few stipulations in the deal as pointed out by Schefter; if Bradford (who has torn his left ACL twice in the last two seasons) does not play at all next season, the Eagles will receive a third-round pick. If he starts less than 50 percent of the plays, Philadelphia gets a fourth-round pick.
Bradford had his past two seasons ended by the fore mentioned ACL injuries, giving him a total of just seven games in the past two years. Foles, on the other hand, is just a year removed from his stellar 2013 season in which he had 2,891 yards and a QB rating of 119.2.
Just last week, Kelly sent shockwaves across the league by trading star running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for a similarly injured player in linebacker Kirk Alonso.
"It feels good to be appreciated," McCoy was quoted saying Tuesday, fueling buzz that he was taking a shot at Philadelphia. He did, however, follow that up by calling Kelly an "offensive mastermind."
Kelly's offseason moves has kept the rumor mill buzzing, with the Eagles trying to move farther up to draft quarter back Marcus Mariota (who played under Kelly in Oregon) among the many speculations.
"He has a plan," McCoy said, "He's a smart guy. Whatever he's doing, he's trying to make it right, he's trying to make it work."
