'Persona 5' Release Date News: Grander Title Includes Another Playable Character

Along with talks that "Persona 5" is grander that its predecessors, a new playable character with support has been introduced.

"Persona 5" is set to introduce a character name Goro Akechi, Siliconera had learned. As per the publication, Akechi is a high school student and detective in the game. The character is set to join the other eight characters previously introduced in the game, including Haru Okumura, Futaba Sakura, Makoto Nijima, Morgana, Yusuke Kitagawa, Anne Takamaki, Ryuji Sakamoto, and a mystery protagonist.

As per the report, details are still lacking as to Akechi's role in the game, as well as his abilities. Thus, they are set to be revealed.

Apart from Akechi, "Persona 5" is also bound to introduce supporting characters, according to Atlus. As per the publication, they are Taw takemi, Sojiro Sakura, and Munehisa Iwai. It is further revealed that they as support characters serve as true help to gamers, since they give items that can be used in battle.

The support characters, when a high level of bond is formed with the gamer's characters, allow the player to gain access to stronger Personas that they can utilize in combat in the franchise's previous game iterations.

In other news, "Persona 5" is set to be different when compared to its previous iterations. According to RPG Site, the game is expected to be "more grandiose" that the previous games, mainly due to the title's Tokyo Setting. As per the publication, the streets of Tokyo are larger than that of "Persona 4's" Inaba.

Along with the game setting, it is also assumed that "Persona 5" is set to be more mature than the past iterations. It is due to the C rating given by Japanese ratings board CERO to the game, according to Design and Trend. This means that the title is generally recommended for players who are 15 years old and above.

"Persona 5" is set to hit Japan on Sept. 15 and the United States on Feb. 14, 2017.
