Just by catching a glimpse of Shaw's dynamic comeback, it is undeniable that the extended trailer for "Person of Interest" season 5 has an overload of excitement to offer.

The new extended trailer for the final season of the action drama series suggests that the next and final installment of the series offers more than just that as it also reveals some apocalyptic situations and a blooming romance.

In an announcement of the final season, showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman said, "We're extremely excited to be able to share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network."

They also thanked the fans, saying that the "paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller series" would not have been a success if not for their support.

"As life has come to imitate 'Person of Interest,' it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter," they said.

On May 3, Season 5 opens with the episode titled "B.S.O.D.," which follows Reese and Finch as they save The Machine's source code before it goes on the blink completely, as well as Root as she tries to save herself from some Samaritan agents.

"B.S.O.D." will be followed by "S.N.A.F.U." on May 9, which follows Reese and Fusco as a faulty machine overwhelms them with numbers of people who have zero involvement in crimes.

Nolan revealed that season 5 will pick up where season 4 ended, where Finch retrieved The Machine and hid it in a suitcase.

"Person of Interest" season 5 premieres on May 3, 10:00 P.M. on CBS.
