‘Person of Interest’ Season 5 Premiere, Air Date: CBS Looks At Late-May 2016 Launch For Next Season
It has been almost a year since the last time that the sci-fi action drama series aired, and it seems that fans of "Person of Interest" just cannot wait any longer for the upcoming season.
The announcement of a fifth season happened in spring of 2015, shortly after the final episode of "Person of Interest" season 5 got on the airwaves. However, with the announcement of a fifth season also came the confirmation that season 5 will include only 13 episodes--nine episodes shorter than the usual 22-episode season. Because of the announcement, many fans are inclined to think that the upcoming season will be the last.
Even with the buzz, the CBS has kept mum about the issue.
In an official statement, CBS president Glenn Geller said: "We haven't aired the show yet, and I'm not sure. I think the season 5 finale can function as both a season and a series finale."
The CBS head, however, went on to tease that season 5 will be a real treat for viewers.
"Showrunners Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman have planned a terrific season. Can't wait for the fans of the show to see it," he revealed.
Based on an article published by Christian Today, Mr. Geller confirmed that season 5 will see the comeback of actress Sarah Shahi in the series to reclaim her role as Sameen Shaw, a former government assassin.
"You can look forward to it with great gusto. She's amazing. I think Jonah and Greg would kill me if I said anything other than it's fantastic," said the network head in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Avid viewers of "Person of Interest" expect the network to announce the premiere date of the next season soon. Since CBS has yet to release promotional materials for the series, many fans speculate that the launch of the upcoming season will happen sometime in late May.
