'Person of Interest' Season 5 News, Rumors: Premieres May 3; Season 6 Cancelled Due To Low Ratings

American science-fiction drama "Person of Interest" is slated to be released in small screens on May 3. However, it has been rumored that CBS network cancelled the television series.

The show had received low ratings hence, Season 5 will be its finale, notes TV Series Finale. According to the website, the petition submitted in Change.org did not affect the network's decision to opt out the show from the list of their drama series.

As a result, showrunner Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman released a statement regarding "Person of Interest" 5th and final season:

"We're extremely excited to be able to share this final season with the fans. We're eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show's fans - the best fans in the world," their statement began.

"This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate 'Person of Interest', it's been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter," as they concluded.

As for Season 5, Ecumenical News revealed that actress Sarah Shahi will be reprising her role as Sameen Shaw aka Indigo Five Alpha. Her character is a "physician and a former operative and governor assassin for the U.S. Army Intelligence Support Activity, ex-member of the Catalyst Indigo."
