'Penny Dreadful' Season 4 Comic News: TV Series Continues In 'Penny Dreadful' Comics

Earlier this year, "Penny Dreadful" wrapped up its third and final season. While fans hoped that the series will be renewed for another season, series creator John Logan confirmed that the previous season was already the last.

The season 3 finale brought a sudden halt to the suffering of its lead character, Vanessa Ives, and closed with "The End" literally spelled out on screen. While the death of the heroine was the best way to end the series, fans were left with many questions as to the fate of the remaining characters.

"Penny Dreadful" season 4 is still far from happening but there is still something that fans of the series can look forward to. Recently, Showtime announced on Twitter that the series will continue, not as a television series but as a comic book.

According to the network, the comic book will pick up six months after the events in the season 3 finale. A press release from Showtime revealed that the action will focus on the werewolf Ethan Chandler, who will struggle to find a way to move forward with his life following the death of Vanessa.

The press release stated that Ethan will find a way to move on until "ancient words echo across the centuries, and he is called on once again to take up arms against the creatures crawling out of the night."

"Penny Dreadful" co-executive producer Chris King will put together the "Penny Dreadful" comic, while Jesus Hervas of "Sons of Anarchy" and Titan Comics will serve as illustrator and publisher, respectively.

The "Penny Dreadful" comic is expected to arrive in early 2017.
