The upcoming season of "Penny Dreadful" will dig deeper into the uncanny side of each character.

In the latest trailer of "Penny Dreadful" season 3, it was revealed that the gothic gang of Vanessa, Ethan and Dorian will engage in more erotic muddles as they continue to embrace the dark side. Together with Sir Malcolm, Dr. Frankenstein and The Creature, the characters will expand their terror across the America.

Teasers for the upcoming season also show Vanessa reminding herself that she has been touched by Satan. Following a clip of a blood-spattered love scene, Ethan is shown telling himself, "I am made for the dark," as if all set to carry on with his evil deeds.

An official synopsis published by Indiewire says that the third installation of the series braces up viewers for spookier episodes to come as spine-chilling characters join the gang.

According to UPI, the third season will see the comeback of Tony award winner Patti LuPone, who starred in "American Horror Story" and will play the role of Dr. Seward, an American therapist. Aside from LuPone, Wes Studi will also join the series as Kaetenay, a furtive Native American who is bizarrely related to Ethan by blood.

One of the newest additions to the cast, Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Christian Camargo, will play the role of Dr. Alexander Sweet, a zoologist who establishes an implausible bond with Vanessa. Aside from him, Sam Barnett, Jessica Barden, Dorian Gray, Perdita Weeks and Simon Russell will also star in the next season.
