PAX East 2015 Recap, News: 'Hearthstone’ Blackrock Mountain Expansion Coming Soon
Blizzard announced on Friday at the PAX East that the newest expansion for its digital card game, Hearthstone, will be coming soon to iPhone and Android devices.
The new expansion, called Blackrock Mountain, will feature many new and highly anticipated features. Five new wings will be introduced; the first wing is named Blackrock Depths. Each wing brings its own unique challenges as players defeat dungeon bosses and win new cards with each match. Wings can be purchased for 700 in-game gold or $7 USD. Wings can be purchased in bundles for discounts as well.
Blackrock Mountain will feature 31 new cards players can earn. Nine new class challenges will put player's skills to the test. If players conquer them, the system will reward players with a new class-specific card, according to the Hearthstone website.
Once a player defeats a boss in any given wing, Heroic mode will be unlocked. Heroic mode is significantly more difficult, but once players defeat bosses in it, a new card will be unlocked and added to a player's card collection.
Pre-Orders for the Blackrock Mountain expansion start on March 19. Those who pre-order will get a Molten Core card back. All cards received will be playable on any board and can even be used in Arena matches. A new game board will also come with the expansion for Adventure mode. The board will be a part of the normal board rotation in Play and Arena modes.
Hearthstone is a widely popular digital card game. Its characters, cards and locations draw from existing Warcraft lore and its universe. The actual release date for Blackrock Mountain expansion has yet to be announced, but fans speculate that it will come sometime in April.
