'Passion of the Christ' Star Jim Caviezel 'Saw God' During Jesus' Whipping Scene in the Movie (VIDEOS)

'Passion of the Christ' and 'Person of Interest' actor Jim Caviezel revealed that he "saw God" when he played Jesus in the iconic faith based movie in 2004.

"The whip went over, and I had a 14-inch gash on my back," said Caviezel to the Rock Church members in San Diego on August 10, when he described the memorable whipping scene in the film, according to a WND report, "I went right down like in a football game when you get the wind knocked out of you. I saw God."

The 45-year-old Roman Catholic actor then described his supernatural experience that he faced when he went up the hill where Jesus would get killed in the film.

"I felt this evil presence come over me," said Caviezel, "'You're a dead man.' I remember thinking this is the best news I've ever had, because I know if I die I'm going to heaven."

He then talked about another miraculous event that happened in the film that was directed by 'Lethal Weapon' and 'Mad Max' star Mel Gibson ten years ago.

"What people witnessed was an illumination around my body and a fire on the right and left side of my head," said Caviezel when he described that he was struck by lightning when he hung on the cross, "And for one moment I was looking at myself from outside my body. When I was hit, everybody fell on their face. The ground shook and that was the last shot of the movie."

The Christian actor also gave advice to people who committed abortions on unborn children in America.

"Many people are a part of this great sin in this country," said Caviezel, "These are all God's children and he brings them home. Now he wants to bring you home.

In addition, Caviezel also provided the Californian congregation with some words of inspiration regarding the real Messiah's loving nature towards humanity.

"You have to take Jesus Christ into your life every day. He's the one that encourages you to fast, to not just pray once a week. The Gospel is real! It's not something you just put away," said Caviezel, "Do you think your friend has more grace than God? Does your friend have more love than the Creator? It can never be. God forgives you and now he needs you to begin, to accept forgiveness."
