Passion 2016 Kicks Off in Atlanta, Conference Highlights: Event Attended By College Students [Watch Live Stream]
The Passion 2016 conference event, which was meant to uplift Jesus' name, is the center of ministry news for the time being.
The conference, which was held in three stadiums in Houston and Atlanta on Jan. 2 to 4, has been trending, according to Gospel Herald. The said event had a theme "The Jesus Generation United for His Fame" and was attended by about 40,000 United States college students. It could also be accessed online at the events' website.
The Passion 2016 event was led by well-known CCM artists and dominant leaders with the prime objective of lifting up Jesus' name. They included Passion Conferences founder Louie Giglio, Grammy winner Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Breet Younker, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, and Jon Piper, Ravi Zacharias, Christine Caine, Rend Collective, and Hillsong United were the special Guests.
Giglio gave the opening remarks for the first session while Redman led the praise and worship. In as statement, he said that they came and understood that possibility of personal relationship with God was now a reality for every single person.
According to The Christian Beat, the attendees of the 2016 Conference were asked to bring a new towel and new socks to be given to the needy. People were also encouraged to give donation to help Passion build a hospital for Syrian women and children. In his interview with the publication, Giglio said that they were not fleeing from the need, but were actually leaning into the need.
Zacharias also wrote on Twitter that resurrection was most investigated even in history. The popular worship icon added that instead of unraveling it, most unravelers ended up putting faith in Jesus.
Passion Conference, which is also known as 268 Generation and initially called Choice Ministries, has been run as a national conference.
Giglio has spearheaded Passion Conferences since 1997 and the event had college students at the top of the demographics. The number of attendees was about 20 million way back 2013. In 2008, Passion Conference aimed to unite students in prayer and worship in line with a spiritual awakening in this generation.
