‘Parks and Recreation' Season 7 Release Date, Cast News: Paul Rudd to Reprise Bobby Newport Role

While fans of NBC comedy 'Parks and Recreation' are waiting for the new year to catch the final episodes in the series, media outlets are talking about who they can expect to see on screen. New reports have revealed that veteran actor Paul Rudd will be reprising his role as Bobby Newport in Season 7.

The broadcast of the seventh and final season of the show will begin with Episode 1 on January 13, 2015. So far it has been confirmed by the cast that filming for the popular comedy series, based in the fictional setting of Pawnee, Indiana, has concluded.

According to Entertainment Weekly Rudd's appearance in Season 7 was welcomed and was something the producers wanted to do before bidding the series goodbye.

'Parks' executive producer Michael Schur said, "He's [Rudd] the world's nicest human being-and the funniest."

Adding, "We made a list of all the people that we wanted to have back and he was high on the list, so we managed to snag him."

In the interview with EW, Schur was asked about the context of Bobby Newport's return to the series. He said, "Ben [Adam Scott] needs to fill a certain position and he thinks that Bobby might be a good candidate."

As it stands, fans can expect to catch Rudd in at least two episodes of 'Parks and Recreation' Season 7. On that note, viewers of the series should also be looking out for other popular actors and actresses that will be tackling roles on the show.

Besides Rudd, guest stars Ben Schwartz, Natalie Morales, and Megan Mullally will also be making an appearance in Pawnee before the 13-episode season ends.

After the 'Parks and Recreation' Season 7 premiere in January, the small-town government comedy will be airing back-to-back episodes until it reaches its hour-long finale six weeks later on Tuesday, February 24.

Evidently, plans for the airing of the series finale have already been hashed out about by NBC network officials.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement, according to E! News,"In an effort to give it the send-off it deserves, we wanted to 'eventize' the final season to maximize the impact of these episodes, which really do take the show to a new level. The highly-anticipated one-hour finale will air behind 'The Voice' in order to lead the largest audience possible into what promises to be a very special hour of television."
