'Paper Mario: Color Splash' Release Date News: Studio Clears Online Hate Campaign Pun?
New details on the release date in Nintendo's "Paper Mario: Color Slash" have surfaced.
Nintendo's title is set to be released in October this year, Forbes has learned. As per the publication, the upcoming game is set to be released on Nintendo Wii U; however, it has gave some disappointment to its fans. According to the report, it is due to the title's deviation from the previous games' structure and resemblance to the 3DS game "Sticker Star."
It is further revealed that fans have made an attempt to request Nintendo to cancel the forthcoming game, but nothing happened. While the game cancellation was not successful, fans and gamers downvoted different game clips to show their appeal to the studio.
Recently, Nintendo also denied that the "Paper Mario: Color Splash" jokes, which was viewed as references to designer Zoe Quinn and GamerGate, are disassociated to the online hate campaign that targeted it. In a statement, as cited by Polygon, Nintendo said that the dialogue from the Nintendo from the Wii U game had been misconstrued as a crude reference.
It is further revealed that Quinn took two dialogue lines from the title's demo at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016, which Nintendo livestreamed on its Treehouse Live program.
Developed by Intelligent Systems, "Paper Mario: Color Splash" follows Super Mario in Prism Island, a place that lost its color. With his Paint Hammer, Mario is set to bring back color to the Earth, as well as to his enemies.
