Pacquiao vs Mayweather Fight Latest: Highest Paid Bout Scheduled for May 2 in Las Vegas

The most awaited bout between two of the greatest boxers in this era, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. finally set the date for the biggest fight this year on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

From years of speculations and reports claiming different things between the two boxers slowing down the agreement talks, the two finally signed on for the biggest bout in their lives. As the biggest fight nears, the two are reportedly preparing as it is also the highest paid fight in the history of boxing.

Reports suggest that the two boxers are set to receive a total of $250 Million for the bout. 60% for Mayweather while 40% for Pacquiao. Of course, Mayweather obviously gets the higher percentage of pay being undefeated while Pacquiao gets the rest. Mayweather has the record of 47-0, 26 knockouts while Pacman has 57-5-2, 38 KOs.

Their records may give a little advantage on Mayweather, not losing a single fight, reports claim however that Mayweather agreed on a big risk in his undefeated record in choosing Pacman as his opponent. Even Pacman's previous opponent Juan Manuel Marquez thinks that it is a risk to fight against Pacquiao.

"It's a very dangerous fight [for Mayweather], because he has not faced any opponent with the speed or aggression of Pacquiao, and in this case also with power. Mayweather has not faced an opponent with these characteristics," Marquez said in an appearance on El Golpe a Golpe.

Despite the risk, Mayweather reportedly wanted to take the opportunity as he nears his retirement. "He can see the end. That may have forced him to consider what it would be like to end his career without fighting the one guy that everyone wants to see him fight. That caused him to redouble his efforts," Stephen Espinoza, Showtime's boxing czar, told SI.com.

Being a risk for the undefeated champion Mayweather or on the part of Pacquiao, the fight is still definitely a go. Six years after their initial negotiations in Las Vegas, the most awaited fight between two of the greatest boxers in this generation will finally happen.
