Filming for "Pacific Rim 2" has already started, as revealed by Director Steven DeKnight.

According to the director, the cast of the highly-anticipated movie are now in Australia to shoot some scenes. DeKnight also confirmed that popular Chinese actor Zhang Jin is joining the cast of "Pacific Rim 2," bringing more action to the upcoming film.

Aside from Jin, other Chinese stars who are joining "Pacific Rim 2" are Wesley Wong, Lily Ji, Qjan and Yong Chen. Chen Zitong, Lang Yingying and Xiao Yang are also set to appear in the sequel.

Recently, Dr. Jack Gao of the Beijing Wanda Cultural Industry Group said that the entire Chinese community is so excited to see the talented Chinese actors in the "Pacific Rim" sequel. He also revealed how the second film is making China its key element.

"Pacific Rim 2" picks up soon after the defeat of the Kaijus. Spoilers for the upcoming film suggest that while the Kaijus were defeated in the previous battle, it does not mean that their battle with humans is already through. In the sequel, the Kaijus will make a comeback in their attempt to take down humans. The film will also dig deeper into their history.

In other "Pacific Rim 2" news, DeKnight recently posted a photo of a door that looked like an industrial bank safe. There are speculations that it is protecting a Kaiju carcass, but that remains to be seen.
