P. O. D. 'Murdered Love' Album Review
Christian Rap Metal band, P.O.D., releases their 8th album, "Murdered Love." Teaming back up with the heavy hitting music producer, Howard Benson, who has also worked with the Christian alternative band "Flyleaf." P.O.D set out to go back to their roots with this album and so far, "Murdered Love" has been receiving lots of success. Upon the album's release, "Murdered Love" has been tearing away at the music charts reaching #17 on the Billboard 200 charts. Their first released single, "Lost In Forever" reached #12 on the mainstream rock charts, #8 on the Active Rock chart, and #1 on the Christian Rock charts. To say the fans are already in love with this album may be an understatement. "Lost In Forever" has also received well over one million views on YouTube since its release claiming a whole new set of listeners. This album brings together so many styles that make P.O.D. so amazingly unique.
Starting off the album with one of the hardest songs P.O.D. has ever done, "Eyez" with a cameo from Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta, brings forth this hard Nu-metal sound that demands attention from the first listen. This track is guaranteed to get you jumping and screaming because so much emotion is felt throughout the song.
"Lost in Forever," the first single released from the album, touches on topics of hope, despair, and questioning the world around us. With an alternative metal sound, the lyrics are catchy and the music is edgy and intoxicating. This will be one of the more remembered tracks off of the album. The music video is pretty entertaining as well.
"West Coast Rock Steady" is definitely the track off the album that has a sound of its own. Featuring Sen Dog of Cyprus Hill, this track combines Hip Hop and rock together giving it a "Rage Against the Machine" feel honoring their San Diego roots.
"I Am" is the heaviest and rawest lyrically song on the album. "I am the murderer, pervert, sick to the core," one of the many verses speaking upon the truth of people's sins and how they don't think they deserve salvation. It is meant to reach out to the youth and show no matter what you come from or what you've done or gone through, you can still rise above. "I Am" by far provides the best message on the album.

P.O.D. without any doubt has grown musically, lyrically, and creatively over the years. Still holding strong to their Christian faith, they continue to let their faith flow and live in their music. With the blend of so many music styles and genres all in one album, one might think that it couldn't possibly be done effectively without losing touch of who the band is. P.O.D has proven otherwise showing that a band can still continue to grow in the right direction even after many albums and years in the entertainment industry. P.O.D fans and anyone looking for a great diverse Christian rock album should definitely give "Murdered Love" a listen. Just do it. Your ears will thank you.
