Oxygen: Preachers of L.A. Season Premiere Episode 1 [WATCH NOW] Bishop T.D. Jakes Bashes "Preachers of L.A." Calls the Reality Show "Junk" [MORE DETAILS INSIDE]
The Oxygen network premiered is newest reality show addition Preachers of L.A. last Wednesday.
Preachers of L.A. gives viewers a closer look inside the everyday lives of preachers outside of the church who despite their career title are still un-perfect people.
The Los Angeles pastors who are cast in the reality series are Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Bishop Ron Gibson, Pastor Jay Haizlip, Pastor Wayne Chaney, and Pastor Deitrick who is also a gospel singer.
The reality series has received many reviews, some good and some not so well. One opinion in particular blasted the reality show and referred to it as "JUNK".
Senior pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House mega-church in Dallas made it clear that he is not fond of Preachers of L.A. and made sure his church members were aware by rebuking the show during his Sunday morning service.
"Now, I know you been watching that junk on TV. I want to tell you right now, not one dime of what you're sowing right now will buy my suit. I want you to know my car is paid for. I want you to know I got my house on my own. I want you to know I'm not bling-blinging. I am not shake and bake. I had money when I came to Dallas and I plan to have some when I leave," Jakes told his congregation.
"You did not buy what I got. I had it when I came here. You know I had it when I came here. The devil is a lie. I have sold enough books and produced enough movies. I don't need your offering to pay for this little slimy suit. So I rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus Christ," Jakes added and then made it clear where he is from, "I'm not from L.A. I'm from Dallas!"
I have yet to check out the new reality series and I probably will continue to pass it up every Wednesday. You can check out the first episode of Preachers of L.A. in full down below. Sound off in the comments with your opinion on the show and if T.D. Jakes was right during his rant. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
