'Overwatch' Release Date, Launch News: Blizzard On Xbox One, PlayStation And PC
Blizzard's "Overwatch" has been launched in gaming platforms, along with talks that it aims to seek e-sports domination.
"Overwatch" was live on the PlayStation, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, Daily Star UK has learned. As per the publication, some players still experienced a number of connectivity failures, which are presumably caused by the simultaneous launch of the game across the globe.
It is revealed that the recent open Beta for "Overwatch" opened its portals for more than 9.7 million players on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. For the record, the said figure marks the greatest record for Blizzard.
Digital goodies for "Overwatch: Origins Edition" are now also available for fans and players. According to Player Overwatch, gamers are set to have a pet in Baby Winston in the game. This pet remains at the player's side as he fights to obliterate the Burning Legion. Also, Baby Winston is automatically added to the characters' inventories and will be accessible on all World of Warcraft accounts on Battle.net.
Other digital goodies include Mercy's wings, which boosts the character's look and abilities in killing evil forces across the High Heavens and Burning Hells; player portraits, specifically Soldier, Baston, Winston, Pharah, Reaper, and Tracer, who will also be automatically unlocked in the player's team; and an "Overwatch"-themed card, which can be shown to an opponent in a Tavern Brawl and is also automatically added to the inventory.
In other news, Blizzard is looking forward that "Overwatch" will generate massive sales for the company when it attracts huge numbers of audiences as an e-sport, BBC reported.
In a statement, as cited by the publication, IHS Technology consultancy head Piers Harding-Rolls said that Blizzard had a huge following on a global basis and was one of the best publishers.
For Harding-Rolls, people would be excited to see what potential the game held, as it had no pedigree in first-person shooters or FPS.
