'Overwatch' DLC News: Blizzard’s Upgrade Changes Character Attack Damage; Game Director Talks New Heroes, Maps
New details on Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch" update have surfaced. In addition, new heroes and maps are reported in the works.
"Overwatch's" update has fixed some game elements, such as the character's effectiveness, Game Spot has learned. As per the publication, the upgrade involves McCree, Widowmaker, and Mercy.
It is revealed that McCree's Alternate Fire, an attack that lets him hastily fire all his gun bullets, now inflicts less damage; however, it now has a shorter reloading time. Then, Widowmaker is now capable of doing more damage when landing a headshot with her assault rifle; otherwise, it deals less. In contrary to McCree's fast reloading time, Widowmaker's Ultimate needs longer time to build up.
Meanwhile, the update has changed Mercy's Ultimate, as she can no longer build it up by damage boosting someone who attacks an ice wall or a barrier.
The said "Overwatch" update applies to the Microsoft Windows version only, which means the aforementioned will not be experienced by players of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. The upgrade is also set to be integrated to a larger patch, with its release date yet to be revealed.
In other news, "Overwatch" developers are not working on new heroes and maps, as per the official "Overwatch" forum website. Game director Jeff Kaplan wrote that they were working on new heroes, along with some prototype heroes that may or may not see the light of day. He mentioned that they did a lot of prototyping, but he opted not to divulge details on their release schedule for fans not to expect too much.
With regard the game maps, Kaplan revealed that one of them was officially in their production pipeline as it had passed through enough prototyping and playtesting that they felt confident in it. He mentioned that the map was handled by their art group at the moment, adding that they keep playtesting it to ensure parallelism between the early level and the final map design.
Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch" was released on May 24.
