‘Overwatch’ Competitive Season 2 News: Title Includes Changes Like Tiers And Sudden Death Removal
Fans are set to see changes in Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch" season 2 and these include tiers and sudden death.
"Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan explained the changes the title was set to undergo when it reached its second season. In a statement, as cited by Polygon, Kaplan said that what they wanted to do with the new system was focus gamers more on thinking they were a gold player.
It is revealed that players who reached the golden rank from bronze and silver will no longer be demoted to their previous ranks. This rule affects gamers, except those who have reached "Overwatch's" highest tiers, which are master and grandmaster. As per Kaplan, they will be demoted if their performance is unsatisfactory.
Along with the character rankings, the tie breaker or sudden death is also set to leave "Overwatch." According to IGN, this change is set to affect the competitive game modes. A case in point was the team's time bank, which would instantly up to two minutes should they complete a round with less than half a minute. As per the publication, it is set to be up to one minute.
Blizzard's "Overwatch" competitive play season 1 concludes on Aug. 17 while season 2 is slated to begin on Sept. 6.
"Overwatch" is Blizzard's multiplayer first-person shooting video game played by two teams of six players. Each player assumed the role of one of the various pre-defined hero characters in the game. Divided into four classes, namely, Offense Defense, Support, and Tank, the characters possess distinct characteristics and skills set.
Blizzard's "Overwatch" was released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on May 24. Watch "Overwatch" season 2 competitive changes clip here.
