'Overwatch' Beta Release Date News, Rumors: When is the Beta Going to Launch?

Gamers everywhere are waiting to get their keyboards and mice immersed in the upcoming Blizzard FPS title 'Overwatch'. While the game has not yet been slated with an official release date, some gamers will be able to play it relatively soon as the beta launch is drawing near.

Previously, online communities and other interested gamers had their sights set for a September Beta release; however, as the month is coming to a close, no fresh news has been announced. As it stands, the official verdict for the release date of the 'Overwatch' Beta is still "Fall 2015."

Stepping back to another Blizzard title, 'Heroes of the Storm', some reference points about Blizzard's Beta launch habits can be deducted. While HotS also received an open Beta, there was an Alpha phase that preceded it. In the case of 'Overwatch', there was no open Alpha phase, meaning its launch could be entirely different.

On that note, while there is no confirmed date, gamers are leaning toward and hoping, it's going to come out in October.

For those that may not know, 'Overwatch' is a six versus six team-based shooter where heroes do battle in a world of conflict. The matches have no character limits so players will be able to play as whoever they want at anytime during a match. The game will contain many elements standard to FPS style shooters like Space Bar jumping and CTRL crouching.

Beyond that, it's important to note that this beta test is not open to all players, and only those who've opted in and have been selected will be able to play on the aforementioned dates. Gamers looking to play in the 'Overwatch' beta can sign up here.
