'Outlander' Season 3 News, Spoilers: Sam Heughan Preps For Jamie Fraser Role?
Actor Sam Heughan is prepping up for his role in the upcoming season of "Outlander," where he will play an older Jamie Fraser.
Asked by Vulture about how he's preparing for his upcoming role, the 36-year-old actor jestingly said, "I'm thinking about getting really fat. I'm thinking eating a lot and not working out would be really good."
"Kidding," the actor added, "Do you really want to see that?" Then he shook his head.
"Outlander" season 2 came to a close with a flash-forward of Claire, his on-screen love interest. However, viewers still have not witnessed how aging affects her 18th century husband.
According to Heughan, "it is less about his appearance, and more about who he is without Claire."
In a separate interview with Variety, the actor also teased that one of the most exciting scenes in the upcoming season is the reunion between Claire and Jaime, and "discovering each other again and falling in love all over again."
"I think both of them have probably held each other up on a pedestal for 20 years, so in many ways, they're going to have to destroy that image first before they can fall in love with the person right in front of them, and that's going to be really interesting. I love the complexity of that, because you can't be in love with a ghost, and Claire is in many ways in love with Jamie's ghost, as Jamie is in love with her ghost, and that's not the people they are when they see each other again," he revealed.
The actor added that season 3 will be a totally different show from the previous seasons, saying that it is going to be the most interesting of all.
"Next year's stuff is probably the most interesting, in a way. We've been setting it up, setting the stage, introducing these characters, and now it goes into new, different worlds," he said.
Starz has yet to announce the premiere date of "Outlander" season 3.
