'Outlander' Season 3 News, Cast: Cast And Crew Gear Up For Upcoming Season Filming
With some members of the "Outlander" team already arriving in Scotland, the series is definitely geared up for its third season.
Weeks after the emotional season 2 finale aired on Starz, the "Outlander" cast and crew are already back in Scotland to kick off production. This was revealed by executive producer Maril Davis, who tweeted on August 1 that she's back in Scotland.
"Back in Scotland. Feels like I've been gone a LONG time," she tweeted, to which Sam Heughan replied, "Welcome back! And it's...Sunny?"
Heughan revealed in a Twitter Q&A last July 21 that production for "Outlander" season 3 will begin this August. He further revealed that a reunion will happen between Jamie and Claire, and that he's really looking forward to filming that scene.
It can be recalled that in the season 2 finale, Claire went back to her own time in 1948 to secure her and her unborn child's safety. The final moments of the episode saw her 20 years after her return, mourning the death of Jamie after believing that he died in the battle at Culloden Moor. However, their daughter Brianna discovered that Jamie was actually alive. The last scene saw Claire staring at the stones of Craigh Na Dun and planning to return to the 1700s.
"Outlander" season 3 will be based on "Voyager," Diana Gabaldon's third "Outlander" novel. In the novel, Claire returns to the 1700s and discovers that her husband is now in Edinburgh, running his own print shop. Fans expect that the couple will reunite in that shop after 20 years of being apart.
"Outlander" season 3 is expected to premiere next year on Starz.
