'Outlander' Season 3 Release Date, Cast News: Conor McCarry Portrays Young Jamie?

As the premiere of "Outlander" season 3 approaches, the series continues to release updates on its cast.

The cast of the series continues to grow, and recent reports suggest that Scottish actor Conor McCarry of "The Night Manager" has been cast as the adult Young Jamie. In the series, he is the oldest son of Jenny Fraser and Ian Murray and the heir of the Lallybroch estate.

The third season of the series is largely based on the third book in Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" book series, titled "Voyager." In the said novel, Young Jamie and Young Ian set out on an adventure that has a tremendous impact on the life of Young Ian and his family. Inquisitr previously reported that John Bell will play the role of Young Ian in the upcoming season.

Aside from Conor McCarry and John Bell, other recent additions to the season 3 cast are Hannah James of "Mercy Street" and Tanya Reynolds of "Fanny Lye Deliver'd."

James and Reynolds will play Geneva and Isobel, respectively. In the novel, they are collectively known as the Dusany sisters.

Geneva is described as the beautiful, headstrong, petulant and spoiled elder sister of Isobel. While she is accustomed to getting everything she wants, Geneva is also vulnerable and naïve because of her sheltered upbringing. On the other hand, Isobel is the warm and friendly younger sister of Geneva.

"Outlander" season 3 picks up soon after Claire time travels to return to her life in 1948 with her first husband, Frank. The series premieres in 2017 on Starz.
