'Outlander' Season 2 Premiere Date, News, Spoilers: EP Leaks Slight Diversion From Original Source

Hit series "Outlander" is set to return to the small screen for its highly anticipated second season.

Just recently, "Outlander" executive producer Ronald D. Moore addressed issues on the upcoming installment's diversion from its original source, and revealed that its new setting--the French court--will be a challenging one for Claire, the protagonist.

"She has had to penetrate a very different world, dealing with aristocrats. It's a nest of vipers and a bit of a challenge for Claire, who is used to speaking her mind. She has a limited knowledge of history. She knows the general outlines, but a lot of it is her figuring things out on the sly," said the executive producer.

Speaking about the second season's inconsistency with the "Outlander" novel series by Diana Gabaldon which portrayed Jamie as a "gung-ho" father, Moore said the reactions of fans are just normal.

"It runs the gamut of any fan base. Some people don't care. Some say, 'I was not okay with this change, but this one didn't bother me.' Our fans have pretty much embraced the show. There are always online arguments about a particular creative choice. You're never going to get 100 percent agreement," he explained.

Moore also teased that season 2 will not focus much on the aftermath of Jamie Fraser's rape and brutalization, but on how he and Claire are going to halt the Jacobite rebellion.

In a separate interview with TV Line, Sam Heughan revealed that while the original source portrayed Jamie as a courageous father, season 2 will portray him as one who "freaks out." He also revealed that Claire will be anxious about being a mother for the first time.

Heughan further teased that there are sex scenes fans should watch out for in season 2.

"Outlander" season 2 premieres on April 9 on Starz.
