'Outlander' Season 2 Finale Spoilers: Claire Travels To Find Out What Happened to Jaime In Action-Filled Ending?

"Outlander" season 2 is airing its final episode next week, and viewers should expect nothing less than a 90-minute finale packed with both action and surprising twists.

Titled "Dragonfly in Amber," the episode will follow the Frasers as they take part in the Battle of Culloden. The official synopsis for the episode suggests that the story will open with a flash forward to 1968, where Claire will return to the future in Scotland along with her already grown-up daughter Brianna to grace the funeral of Reverend Wakefield. At the funeral, they will stumble upon her adopted son, Roger Wakefield.

The season finale will be a highly emotional episode, as Claire will seek the help of Roger in finding out what happened to the men of Lallybroch, and whether her husband Jaime survived the war or not. During their search for the grave of Frank's ancestor, Jonathan Randall, they will accidentally come across the gravestone of Jaime, forcing Claire to tell her daughter the truth behind their time travel and her lineage.

Later on, the story will cut through to take viewers back to the past, particularly in the 18th century, leading up to the day of the Battle of Culloden. The episode will show that after Jaime fails to prevent The Prince from slaughtering the Highlanders, Claire will make up a dangerous plan--to poison Charles Stuart. Upon overhearing this, Douglas will have a heated confrontation with Claire and Jaime and will die.

In the end, Jaime chooses to save the lives of his loved ones, even if that means bidding them goodbye. Before he and Claire part ways, they will renew their vows at Craigh na Dun.

The final episode of "Outlander" airs on July 9, 9:00 p.m. on Starz.
