'Outlander' Season 2 Episode 3 Spoilers: Jamie, Claire Work Out Issues In Growing Family; Black Jack Actually Alive?
Distance will continue to get in between Jamie and Claire in the upcoming episode of "Outlander" season 2, titled "Useful Occupations and Deceptions."
Jamie and Claire are currently separated by their jobs, and it seems that things will stay that way unless they reach a compromise. While Jamie tries to focus on politics, Claire embarks on her new career as a nurse, which does not sound very right for Jamie considering his wife's pregnancy.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter regarding Jamie's being overprotective of Claire, actress Balfe explained, "His frustration--I think under another circumstance he would understand her happiness in finding this place and he would understand her need to go and work there."
Aside from Jamie and Claire trying to work out issues in their family, the episode will also tackle the major cliffhanger left by episode 2 when Claire found out that Black Jack was actually alive.
Episode 3 will follow Claire as she decides on whether to tell her husband or not about Black Jack, who had caused him severe psychological trauma back in season 1. According to actor Heughan who plays Jamie, Jamie is the type who would rather bury the dark memories of the past than open up about them, considering the "man of the time" that he is.
"The mental side is new to him. He doesn't think about it and just busies himself. He gets drunk so that he doesn't have to deal with it, but it does come back to haunt him. Ultimately, it forces Jamie and Claire to be less intimate because he's closing up and not talking about it," he said.
He also revealed that Jamie's refusal to talk about his experience with Black Jack may cause a strain in his relationship with Claire.
"Outlander" season 2 airs every Saturday on Starz.
