'Outlander' Season 1 Spoilers: Jamie Betrayed and in Prison, Black Jack's Return
While the first half of 'Outlander' Season 1 left fans wondering what's going to happen next, those who read the book series already know. The drama television series, based on novels by Diana Gabaldon, features a nurse named Claire Beuchamp Randall who finds herself transported over 200 years into the past.
When the series went on hiatus in September, Claire had been rescued by the dashing Jamie Fraser, but her husband from 1945, Frank, is still torn by Claire's disappearance. So what is next for this unfortunate heroine? We turn to the book series to find some of the answers.
According to the novels, Claire's futuristic medical expertise gets her into trouble. No one really trusts her, and so she is accused of a terrible and serious crime: witchcraft. Fortunately, Claire will tell Jamie her secret, which may be no surprise to viewers. His reaction to having a wife from two centuries in the future is worth waiting for.
Also from Gabaldon's book series, Jamie will be betrayed and put in prison. As if that isn't enough, Black Jack has returned to be a danger to them both. In the books, Jamie leaves the rapist alive for a final face-off sometime in the future.
According to the previews, and the writings of Gabaldon, Jamie and Claire's story becomes darker as their love blooms. Caitriona Balfe, the actress who plays Claire, talked about the growing relationship, "You're really going to love seeing the fruition of that."
Jamie (Sam Heughan), added, "If you enjoyed the first half of the season, the second half of the season is a lot darker."
