'Orphan Black' Series Renewal News: BBC Flagship Drama Renewed for Fourth Season

Orphan Black, BBC America's flagship drama series, has been renewed for a fourth season which will consist of 10 episodes.

The new season will air in 2016. This information comes just shortly before the third season finale of the show, which airs on June 20th.

Orphan Black has been able to reap the advantages of having AMC Networks behind its third and current season. It is the first season to air on BBC America since it became a part of AMC Networks.

The opening episode of Season 3 was broadcast on five AMC networks simultaneously and gained 1.27 million viewers altogether in Live+ on the same day and 1.9 million viewers on Live+3.

The season 3 premiere was preceded by a marathon of seasons 1 and 2 on IFC.

In a statement about the show, BBC America president Sarah Barnett said, "Orphan Black is an entirely fresh and original show that stands out even in today's crowded TV landscape.

Tatiana Maslany's buzzy, virtuoso performance headlines a brilliant cast and we are delighted to let our vocal and passionate fan base know that this wildly entertaining ride will continue next year."

The show was able to win a Peabody Award in 2014, and its lead actress, Tatiana Maslany received two Critics' Choice Awards for Best Actress and a TCA Award for Individual Achievement, as well as Golden Globe, SAG and People's Choice nominations.

Orphan Black is produced in association with BBC America and Space by Temple Street Productions. It is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, as well as Graeme Manson and John Fawcett.
