'Orphan Black’ Season 4 Spoilers: Speculations are Rife over Main Character’s Death
Although fans of 'Orphan Black' were expecting the death of a character in the science fiction television series' Season 3 finale, they were hit hard when Delphine (Everlyne Brochu) was gunned down in a parking garage after killing Nealon (Tom McCamus), who himself revealed that he was a neolutionist.
According to IB Times, since Brochu has been a regular in the clone drama on BBC America since its Season 1, the death of Delphine distressed the fans, especially following the death of Paul (Dylan Bruce), who has also been on the show for a long time. Nevertheless, viewers are also aware that they need to be somewhat skeptical about deaths shown in finales.
'Orphan Black' Season 1 showed what seemed to be the death of Helena (Tatiana Maslany), but the show's Season 2 premiere revealed that she had survived miraculously after being shot. Will this happen in the case of Delphine too?
In fact, 'Orphan Black' executive producers John Fawcett and Graeme Manson too have not confirmed Delphine's death. When TV Line asked them if Delphine had managed to survive, Manson said, "I don't know. Did you see her die?"
Even Fawcett chose to avoid a similar question. However, his response did not appear to be as hopeful. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Fawcett said, "Well, you know, I know this will be upsetting too many fans but the story in our minds has always been a tragic love story." The co-executive producer added, "Listen, I didn't want to say one way or the other. For us, I believe this is a horrible thing that had to happen."
In fact, Fawcett shared that 'Orphan Black' Season 4 will be all about Delphine's love Cosima (also portrayed by Tatiana Maslany). According to Fawcett, Delphine had to get shot in order to push the clone scientist's plot ahead. "And I know that it's hard, and I know that it's emotional and... there are going to be a lot of people out there going 'WHY?!?'" Fawcett said. Adding, "But trust me, this was a necessary move to make. And it's necessary in Cosima's story and its necessary going forward in subsequent seasons-in Season 4 and Season 5."
Even Delphine's death doesn't have to suggest that it is the end of her appearance 'Orphan Black' appearances. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Mason said, "I'd love to see her somehow," adding, "But the story is going to have to dictate it, and all of the other elements will have to come together. We'd love to, but there has to be a great story reason."
'Orphan Black' Season 4 will premiere on BBC America in 2016.
