A major character might meet her end in the upcoming season of "Orange is the New Black."

Speculations are rife that in season 5, the main protagonist of the series, Piper Chapman, will suffer the same fate as Poussey Washington, whose unexpected death shocked viewers in the previous season.

Since its debut, the popular Netflix comedy drama series has never run out of surprises for its viewers, offering surprising twists in its story. In the upcoming season, however, the twist is reportedly going to upset fans on so many levels.

While the "Orange is the New Black" production has not yet confirmed reports about the demise of a major character next season, rumors about the death of Piper Chapman continue to flood the Web. Some fans speculate that the lead character will be murdered by her former love interest Alex, played by Laura Prepon. Other speculations point to Piper being killed by her nemesis and fellow inmate at the Litchfield Penitentiary, Stella Carlin.

Since rumors about the death of the show's lead character continue to grow, some fans cannot help but think that the upcoming season will serve as the final season of "Orange is the New Black." Understandably, it is difficult to imagine the series go on without its main protagonist.

Meanwhile, there are also reports claiming that aside from Chapman, funny inmate Taystee will also die next season as she gets involved in a bad deal and gets killed in the process.
